Bodie and Mine Facility

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 9 July 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

A few kind souls have asked for more views of Bodie so I am glad to oblige with one today and tomorrow. My apologies to those who are tired of Bodie - one either likes this "Ghost Town stuff" or they don't. Anyway, in this photo rests one of the Mining facilities responsible for processing the 32 Million(+) dollars in Gold and 7 Million in Silver that was hauled out of here in just a few year's time..circa 1879-1886 - probably translates to the billions today. Finally, this was taken some years ago and in editing this photo the other day, I wound up having to basically "chop" off the left hand side of this image......there were several people over to the left and I did not want that - so there ya go. - I apologize for this situation.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
