Convict Lake Scene 2

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 11 September 2010 in Landscape & Rural.

This is a last minute switch that I made for several reasons - First, this lends a better view of Mt Morrison and the eastern edge of the John Muir Wilderness area. This is the trail here, around Convict Lake with my beautiful wife way back there in the distance.
Second, other than some tweaking I did to get the blasted brightness out of that cloud up there, (and some minute shadow and hilight adjustments) this is a completely unedited shot right out of the camera. I am displaying this essentially unedited image in order to illustrate that the color of the water in the lake is as you see here and as you saw yesterday....no colorizing or photoshopping has been done. A little darkening took place when i made the hilight and contrast adjustments but that is it.
Thirdly I would like to take a little poll of your opinions here: it seems that many of you like these Convict Lake images so far... I have more. If you would like to see more shots of our hike around this lake, i will be happy to post them.
The issue is that I had planned to begin the series of photos of our granddaughter and my tribute to my family on Monday, but over the next several days, I can intersperse my "family tribute" images with Convict Lake images so that no one will be completely bored to tears either way....If all of this sounds ok, just let me know. Either way I will probably do it that way anyway, but it's always nice to forewarn people when "family photos" are involved :-)
Just let me know what you think.. Have a great weekend.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
