Here is a closer look at the Cholla in bloom This photo was taken during March / April blooming time. The blossoms are quite pretty little yellow tubular flowers, as you see here. The very dark areas on the stalks of the larger plants are the sections that are dying off. These are the pieces that drop to the ground. They retain their needles so watch out if you are ever around one of them. The Cholla garden at Joshua Tree is a fairly large area and it is a delight to walk around. Some of the plants are quite large. Additionally, you will enjoy some wonderful views to the east, south, and north. The drive down from the main part of the park is very interesting, albeit a bit curvy in spots. There's something for just about everyone at Joshua Tree National Park!
** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"
- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)
- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.
