Old Red Mill - Jericho, VT

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 5 November 2010 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

This Red Mill served a vital function for local farmers in the day. Grist grinding of all sorts of grains was transformed into various sizes or milings for everything from feed to powder. The mill no longer operates as such, but the building houses a mini-gift shop and small museun. The original mill grinders are on display inside. Next time we go up, I'll take some shots of the inside to show you the grinders...they are actually quite fascinating. To the left in this frame, you may see some cars....out of view to the left is another older building that now serves as a Pre-School. My youngest Grandson attended there for 2 years until the current year. He is now a "First Grader" in a nearby elementary school! Time marches on!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
