Mustard Hills near Harmony Borax Works

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 13 March 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

These colorful yellow mounds are called Mustard Hills . In turn, this location is very near the Harmony Borax works which we will be seeing beginning tomorrow...but don't get TOO excited, there's not much left of the "works." In fact the best image I could find for tomorrow which shows "the remains of the works" and the wagons shall also include my smiling wife which makes the image a whole lot better ;-) At any rate, Harmony is adjacent to Badwater, so, very soon, we will be seeing that as well.

Death Valley is a fantastic geologic wonderland of colors, formations, and shapes. There is always something colorful to see in this beautiful Park.

I hope all of you don't mind all of the panoramic vistas...when we visited the Park, I was so awestruck by the sweeping views, I just felt that this would be the best way to convey these views. I hope you enjoy!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
