Death Valley National Park - Hasta Luego

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 18 March 2011 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

And so for now, until we return, we say "hasta luego" to this magnificent and dynamic desert park. A magical and intriguing National Park, regarded by some of the more "uneducated" as a "wasteland"... In reality, there is more richness, more beauty, more inspiration and more peace and harmony here than almost anywhere that I can imagine.

Being a National Park, Death Valley DOES receive it's share of tromping, car cruising "tourists" who blast through, stop for a drink, and move on without really thinking about the value of this place. But we should not let that deter us in our belief that the National Parks are, very much indeed, "America's Best Idea."

Death Valley National Park is phenomenal. I am so glad that you joined me here and please remember that what I have shown you is just a small fraction of the things that you can do and areas that you can see if you come here. I would caution visitors to try and visit in the Autumn, Winter, or Spring, if you can, when temperatures do not so much interfere with your ability to truly learn, see, and experience. On the other hand, if summer is your only opportunity to visit, please come and enjoy and just know that you will have the chance to experience another well-known factor of this Park: The heat ;-) .... Thanks everyone, for joining me.

This image may stay here for a few days. I will be back but I have several things that I need to take care of. I hope to have new images posted by early next week. Until then, Thank You again, and Peace to all of you!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
