California State Flower- the Golden Poppy

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 23 March 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Many of you probably know this, perhaps some do not...this is the State Flower of California...by the way, the State Tree is the Redwood (Sequoia), the sate animal is the grizzley bear (watch out, Scott) , and the state bird is the Valley Quail.

Since it is gettiing close to spring- or already IS spring in California (most of it, anyway) I thought I would present some of my own beloved flowers. This image is rather old - and a bit fuzzy too, sorry about that...I captured it when we lived in San Diego - this is from March of 2007. Just up the hillside from our house there.

Today, as this post appears on AM3, we are expecting some snow in Easton, PA. Oh well...spring is coming, I know it! I hope you enjoy this one.....

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
