Cherry Blossoms - Washington DC

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 25 March 2011 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

This is one of the thousands of Cherry Trees that line the ponds and walkways of Washington D.C. right about this time each year.

The annual Cherry Blossom Festival is about to begin it's 2011 festivities in just a few days.
Every year in late March, the trees begin to show their beautiful spring blooming color. This year, the peak blossom time is expected to be April 3, but I predict it will be around March 31...I just have a feeling. The blossoms actually start to "show" about a week prior to the designated "peak" date, so If you are in the Washington D.C. area I highly recommend a visit! The crowds can get fairly dense on the weekends but it is still worth it. I will have a few more images to show you in the coming days...I hope you enjoy!

WE WILL BE IN VERMONT THIS WEEKEND - I MAY NOT BE ABLE TO RESPOND BUT WILL CERTAINLY TRY - THANK YOU ALL SO MUCH FOR VIEWING MY BLOG. HAVE A GREAT WEEKEND.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
