This post actually got here by mistake - I was planning on leaving yesterday's image "up" for one more day but upon arriving here at my work, I realized that I obvioulsy (and mistakenly) put this one on for today!. So now, having discovered this, I am writing a short description here from my work today (Wednesday morning)
This is probably one of the most photographed Ancient Bristlecone Pines of all. It may appear dead but has some life within. This ancient one probably has reached the near 3,500 year old realm at least. He stands as a sentinel at the Northern end of the Schulman Grove loop trail greeting all who pass by.
Brilliant photographers like Gary Hart, Don Smith, Scott Schilling and countless others have captured this old soldier at all hours of the day and night and all seasons. Of course, Galen Rowell made his home not far away in Bishop, CA and he probably did as much as anyone, (if not more) to bring The Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest to the attention of the world.
I also see that I should have been a bit less heavy-handed on the crop..Sorry about that ...I will be posting another image of this tree later on in the series.
This is truly an amazing site to behold, walking around the loop trail. I hope that you enjoy viewing the old Wizard here.
** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"
- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)
- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.
::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"; Earth Wind and Fire
