Final Thoughts from the Ancient Bristlecone Pines

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 3 May 2011 in Landscape & Rural.

When Barbara (seen here) and I visit this place and walk this precious preserve, we feel the beauty and energy that the Ancient Ones provide. The feeling doesn't "hit" us like a ton of bricks, it's just an easy feeling of peace and energy. When it happens as we are walking around, I find it hard not to think in universal terms, much like an astronaut looking down on the earth from space. The earth and all of it's inhabitants become more "visible," precious, and fragile, at least to our mind's eye.

We are all living in a world that seems to have a surplus of intolerance, prejudice, and bitterness. The hostility of arson, alone ,has affected this place even here, in its high and remote location! But if we could bring everyone here, to experience this place, perhaps the same spiritual connection would enter their heart as it has ours. Then, perhaps, there would be a better chance for all of us to make that true connection to humanity. Anyway, that's my dream.... After all, "feeling" is the first step to love.....and tolerance is the beneficial result of love.....that process describes humanity in the way I believe it should be......that's what I hope and dream for.......

Thank you so much, everyone, for your kind and wonderful comments, and most of all, for "listening" to my ramblings and diatribes throughout this long series.. Peace!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
