Yours truly here in this image - captured by Mrs. J - two sumers ago at Acadia National Park. This was the tripod I took on that trip. I had totally forgotten my regular cheapo tripod that I purchased for $75.00 in a Lone Pine, CA camera shop in 2006. I still have it and use it.
Since I already had lots of Army experience crawling around on my belly, I found this little "Gorillapod" to be quite the "bee's knees" for certain applications.
Tripods, cameras, processing software, and all the rest can be a stress on the budget.....the love of photography truly must be a love, because things can get expensive for the photagrapher on an austere budget. But all good things come in time, and we perservere by doing the best that we can with the tools that we have. My wish list item for this year was a new camera but that is being pushed out a bit. My wish list item has been revised to a decent tripod.
Yes, photography can be expensive, but for all of us, it should, first, be fun! We love what we are doing, so we do the best with whatever we have...everyone understands that. At least those of us in this wonderful family do.
I wish you all the very best!
PS - Andrea, if you are out there, I am wearing my "Weakerthans" T-Shirt ;-)
** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"
- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)
- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:

ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"; Earth Wind and Fire
