Geese at Dawn - Pretty in Pink

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 3 November 2011 in Animal & Insect.

A particularly "pink" sunrise combined with the view of these geese on a local river that I pass by when taking one of my alternate routes to work.... I just had to stop for this one! This big guy surprised me by flapping his wings. My settings were not exactly selected to stop that fast of a motion, but the resultant blur was kinda cool, I thought...

Other than the crop, no treatment here - it was pink just like this. As for the top margin of the this frame, the reason I cropped it there is due to the fact that, just out of view above the top of the frame, there sits probably the ugliest house ever known to mankind...so, I decided to "disclude" it from the image ("disclude" means the opposite of "include" in Dennyspeak)..

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
