An "Un-silent" Dream

Dr Martin Luther King spoke of a dream that he had for all people. One in which all people could live together in harmony.

As I was thinking about Dr King and this particular day, I came across this above quote in my collection of books and notes from my college days. My major course of study was Intercultural Communication. I made it a steady, constant endeavor to learn, or at least observe, what I could about different cultures and the music, attitudes, beliefs, and values of different people. As I pondered his words, here, I remembered that life itself (if we make good use of it), should be a long series of studies.

I am convinced that our race of human beings is only special, only valid, only deserving of any recognition over other species of living things, when we offer kindness, respect, and tolerance to each other. When we understand and accept that there are differences between cultures, and that those differences are not a bad or threatening thing, we are taking a big step towards establishing a condition of tolerance. And tolerance, I believe, is the key to ending war, hatred, racism, and brutality.

Dr King LIVED Tolerance.... He was "all about" this mode of thought.

So, on this day, and on every day, I would like to say that I am so grateful to Dr King for what he did and what he has tried to teach us. Instead of wasting our energy hating others, we could be saving ourselves by making his words and his dream an "Unsilent Dream" that is shouted loud and clear and goes on and on.....and, most importantly, one which resides in all of our hearts....forever!
