"A Sure Sign of Spring" - Spotted Turtles

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 27 March 2012 in Animal & Insect.

The chief Naturalist at MCR told us that these huge spotted turtles, when they come out, are a "sure sign of spring." These guys are huge - the shell on the largest one here is probably about 8-10 inches long. We were sort of "marching through" this portion of the trail at a fast pace....I should have paused longer and inverted my Circular Polarizer to diminish some of the glare coming off the turtle's back. But, another lesson learned...it won't happen again ;-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.
