" Gone Fishin' "

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 27 April 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture.

The great Blues singer, Taj Mahal, has a wonderful song entitled "I'm Goin' Up To The Country and Paint My Mailbox Blue!" I believe he is basically refering to a desire to simply get away from everything and everyone so he can be at peace.

Although I am not a fisherman, I have seen and become acquainted with enough of them to realize that this same kind of "zen" must occur in their pastime. It is a mindset that seems to say "what I am doing here is my way of escaping from all the trials and tribulations of life, therby restoring some peace and order......so leave me alone, please." This fellow is certainly surrounded by beauty and tranquility.

I captured this image on March 17, 2012 at Merrill Creek Reservoir in Western New Jersey....Thanks, everyone for looking in on me...I am recovering quite well. Happy Spring!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
