We've Been Having a Little Rain Lately

Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 30 May 2012 in Plant & Nature and Portfolio.

Before I talk about this shot, I just wanted to thank all of you for your wonderful comments on my Memorial Day (USA) image and poem from Monday. I am so flattered and appreciative of your kind words regarding the poem. The "poems" that I write are spur-of-the-moment and totally based on emotion - they can just sort of gush out of me ...Sometimes they are really bad (as in "lousy") but sometimes I feel pretty good about them....Either way, please allow me to say Thank You All so very much <3

As dry as the past 10 months have been around here, the turnaround seems to be making a good fight of it. We were behind in our rainfall by about 5 inches, but in the past 5-6 weeks, Mother Nature has managed to do away with the rainfall deficit to the extent that now, we are close to a surplus condition. The plentiful rains have been welcome, but as you can see, they also can pose problems.

This shot: I captured on Sunday, in one of Allentown, PA's oldest and prettiest parks, Cedar Creek Park...This is Cedar Creek. There is a wonderful rose garden in the park and the roses were loaded with water drops...a photographer's joy! The skies were overcast, misty, and somewhat foggy yet bright. The lighting conditions were perfect for flower shots, I thought! So, during the next 3 or 4 posts, I hope to show you a few of the roses we enjoyed, interspersed with some shots taken at a beautiful waterfall location in Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area....one of our very favorite spots here in the east.

By the way, for this and the upcoming rose shots, Barbara was my "Rose Spotter" and she did a GREAT job:-)

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at

ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
