What Happened to all the Trees - Valley Forge 4

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 16 June 2012 in Lifestyle & Culture.

The thousands of troops amassed here, at this place, needed shelters from the freezing winters. They lived 12 soldiers crammed into a hut (and, as for "close quarters," Winter may not have been so bad, but Summer - I don't even want to think abut it). So, trees were cut - hundreds of them - land was cleared, and huts were built. Just like these. Quite honestly, I could not find out what the bunker on the right was used for - My guess was that they were either for storage or curing and smoking meat.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
