Philadelphia - So Much to See and Learn

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 20 June 2012 in Cityscape & Urban.

First off, please forgive this rather "touristy" shot. Barbara and I had a more important purpose for this visit. We drove down to "Philly" (as it is affectionately termed by locals) to meet up with an old college friend, Kathleen, whom we had not seen since 1975! She had just flown out from Sacramento to attend a conference.

So, anyway, this is Independance Hall, where the authors and signers of the Declaration of Independance and Constitution met and hammered out their documents. Franz has an excellent shot of the actual room in this building where the signings took place. I have a few shots too, but still haven't decided if i want to post them - Franz's are WAY better :-)

Finally - this is truly an amazing and beautiful city - full of things to see, do, learn, love, and yes, even hate! But all of that goes into making Philadelphia what it is: A purely authentic American town!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
