Old Friends

Our friend, Kathleen, shown here, was the reason for our drive down to Philadelphia three weeks ago. The traffic and delays (turning the normally 60 minute drive into a 90 minute one) was well worth it. We were so excited to see her after 38 years!

I caught this image of Kathleen walking around the Liberty Bell, and, to me, the look on her face just says says it all! Her Great (x5) Grandfather served in the Massachussets Army at Valley Forge, so she was VERY excited about seeing, first hand, the American Liberty Bell, and of course, Valley Forge, which we took her to, later in the day.

About 20 years ago at a large Hospital in Sacramento, Kathleen devised and established a rehab center and plan that she had designed to help substance-addicted mothers rid themselves of their addiction (whether it be drugs, alcohol or other) and, at the same time, provide their newborn and other children, a safe, positive, and educational environment while the mothers worked through the 3-6 month program that Kathleen also developed to give them the assistance, impetus for lifestyle changes, and revised atitudes they needed to suceed.

Kath's program has a succes rate of double over any other similar program and she and her program have become Nationally recognized and have been afforded many homours.

So to say we are exceedingly proud of her is an understatement. Kathleen and I majored in the same discipline, Communication Studies, at California State University, Sacramento and she and I had "back to back" radio shows on the student-run FM station - I did Jazz and Blues and Kathleen did rock/folk mix. - Those were the days..but after ajust a few minute, it was like the three of us had never been apart. It was wonderful ;-)

We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
