Safe Passage

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 3 September 2012 in Animal & Insect.

I have always been enthralled by the story of Monarch Butterflies and their migrations to and from Mexico. Although he refused to open his wings for me, I still enjoyed this beautiful fellow as he visited a butterfly bush.

This shot was taken along the historic 60-mile long Delaware Canal towpath which runs from Easton, PA to Bristol, PA (just north of Philadelphia) and is an Historic National Recreation Trail. Used during the 1800's as a prime commercial link with mule teams pulling cargo-laden boats, the towpath is used today by walkers, joggers, bicyclists, cross-country skiers and bird watchers. I hope to post a few more images of this historic trail following my "Contemplation" Series which wil end next week but will be explained tomorrow with a new post.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
