The Smile of a Prince - Our Grandson, Justin

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 11 October 2012 in People & Portrait and Portfolio.

There are so many amazing facets of a young man when he has the heart of a knight, the mind of a scientist, the soul of a teacher, and a smile that provides one with the comfort and assurance of being in strong yet kind hands......Please meet our first Grandchild, Justin Dennis Roberge.

Seventeen years ago today, our daughter, Amy, gave birth to Justin. Justin and his parents and brothers have lived in Vermont for many years, but he was born in Trippler Army Hospital on the island of Oahu, Hawaii. I have always felt in my heart that the aura and spirit of Hawaii has permeated this young man's heart and soul. He can be intense, but he always remains polite, concerned and respectful. He always cares about the welfare of others, and he is a brilliant and analytical thinker.

We aren't sure where his life will carry him, but we do know that it will be a fulfilling experience for us just to watch him as he goes along his way. We know that the world will be so much better, simply because this promising young man is making his way and contributing his kindness and talents to others....it is absolutely inevitable.

So, Happy 17th Birthday, Justin! We love you unconditionally. We are so very proud of you. Ans we are positively honoured to say that we are your grandparents!

Incidentally, I cannot take credit for this photo, it was taken by my beautiful wife Barbara, Justin's Grandmother. I processed it a little bit in Snapseed but Barbara took this wonderful shot :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
