Chasing the "Streak"

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 13 October 2012 in Sport & Recreation.

Number 48 is carrying the ball in this shot. On his way to another touchdown, his second of the day.
And yes, number 48 is our middle grandson Tyler.
And yes, Tyler is the same fellow who plays baseball, hits home runs, runs the bases like a streak, and strikes people out with his blazing fastball.
Needless to say, lots of people are watching this young athlete VERY closely.

This shot was taken on a dark cold day with pouring rain off and on...My poor little Olympus E-510 was struggling at 1600 iso (it's top capability) to fire shutter quickly enough to catch many of the shots...If I had taken any more of the "shadow" out of this image, the noise would probably make you deaf. If anyone knows where i can get a nice new Nikon D800 and a few 2.8 lenses for, oh, say 100 bucks, USD...please let me know :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
