Three Top Cats

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 3 December 2012 in People & Portrait.

Our three Grandsons are proudly shown here, during our Thanksgiving Day family walk around Merrill Creek Reservoir a few weeks ago

In front is Ryan who will turn 9 in just a few weeks - Ryan is amazingly intricate, studious, and could debate any trial attorney into the ground!

Next is Tyler, 13 - The baseball, football, drummer guy...He is one hell of a funny guy a great student and with that blond hair he is adored on campus :-)

Finally comes Justin, 17- our first grandchild - with his reflective soul, exacting logic, and big-heart he is loved by all.

We are so very proud of all three of these guys. But, I am certain that most of you already know that :-) I NEVER get tired of talking about them. They are very definitely our Three Top Cats!

A few notes of interest, perhaps:

First - Barbara is responsible for the pose....she is a natural for selecting and thinking-up perfect portrait positioning.

Second - When we composed these impromptu shots, the late afternoon sunshine was beautiful but made for, photographically, a very challenging condition for a rookie like me. However, I found some "salvation" by post-procesing this in the Snapseed software app, "Charlie" (for Charlie Parker) tone which can be located in the "Vintage" folder of Snapseed ...love it...

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
