January Fields

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 28 January 2013 in Landscape & Rural and Portfolio.

Sometimes, this is a Corn field in the summer;
Sometimes this is a Soy field in the summer;
But in winter, this is always a beautiful field....a cold field...but a beautiful field. A field that affords a wonderful look at the southern-most ridge of the Appalachian chain of ridges and valleys that run from the southwest to the northeast through Pennsylvania on its way to Maine from Tennessee, Kentucky, and North Carolina.
Barbara and I see this field almost every day on our is a wonderful view all year 'round.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

This is gorgeous. The light out here IS different isn't it? So much softer, and more golden....In Cali the light is so harsh by 9:00 am that day time photography is almost impossible. I love the clouds, and I am loving the clouds we get here in the Summer....We never get clouds in Cali like the clouds here!
I want to thank you so much for your kind encouraging support on my "homesick" days! I do feel so much better today than the day I posted....Post Holidays can always be a bit tough, but I am excited to see Spring "pop" and get back up to the mountains (well "hills" really)! We plan to do some traveling and see some of the areas up your way, so I'll be in touch and maybe we can meet up sometime.

@Tracy: Hi Tracy - That would be wonderful to see you guys. But don't feel like the "Lone Stranger" Barbara gets the same way especially around and after the holidays...for us, though, we are lucky becasue at least we have Amy and er husband Steve and the boys up in VErmont. But, talk about a homesick Californian our daughter Amy was born in Sacramento and misses California big time....but she is so adaptable and outgoing, she and Steve are probably amongst the most popular people in Essex, Vermont...And they have introduced their friends and neighbors to "Cinco de Mayo", every year beginning usually in March sometime, all their neighbors look forward to the Cinco de Mayo party Amy and Steve throw...Anyway hang in there, kddo we hear ya :-)
