Joshua Tree - A Threatened Plant

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 25 March 2013 in Plant & Nature.

These trees that you see here are the namesake of Joshua Tree National Park. It took decades for Josuha Tree National Park to be "elevated" to the status of a National Park. Now, the very plant for which this park is named is in danger, primarily because of global pollution. While debate still rages in the political halls over global changes (caused by pollution) are actually occuring, plants such as the Joshua Tree are increasingly affected. Common sense and good sensitivity seems to have been replaced by squabbling egos with big mouths and little brains. Meanwhile the natural treasures that we al enjoy are disappearing while the bickering and political posturing continues.

Now off my soapbox - We see today a colour version of this expanse and beautiful area of rocks and Joshua Trees,...Wednesday, we will see the B&W image.

Thanks to you all for viewing my blog - and for putting up with my rant :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
