"It Was A A Dark and Stormy Night!"

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 31 October 2013 in Abstract & Conceptual.

Today we have Halloween, here in the U.S. This "Holiday" like many Americanized holiday's has become a crazy,weird combination of "overdone" commercialism and sentimental affection. Most of us have kids, grandkids, relative kids, neighbor's kids...They all skip around in costumes, rapping on everyone's door....and looking so darn cute when we open the door that even the grizzled goblin or wicked witch that may reside in our stodgy old soul could not resist a smile and say "oohh" or "aahhh" when these little ones come to the door. In fact, just about the only thing we can do, is "laugh it off," or, run down to the basement or up to the far bedroom, turn out all the lights in the house and say "shhhhh!" ...Well, whatever you do, I wish everyone a very Happy Halloween on this "Dark and Stormy Night." :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire

Beautiful photo Denny.
I was in Germany one year for Halloween, I wasn't far from, and wanted to visit Frankenstein's castle, but no one there seemed to understand why.

brilliant example of a perfect halloween night, denny! for about ten years now, halloween has been really popular here, too, with the stores full of halloween paraphernalia long before the day ...
and even the "trick-and-treating" has found its young friends ... ;-)
