"One Last Christmas Gasp"

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 12 January 2014 in Cityscape & Urban.

To torture you one last time, here's one more noisy, poorly-focused , questionably-framed iPhone shot of downtown Burlington, Vermont (Church Street, to be exact). This was December 27, 2 nights after Christmas. Just behind us and to the left of this point, is a large indoor shopping mall where many folks go.
Out here on the street, there are many more shops that beckon the post-Christmas crowds who just can't seem to get enough of that spending and exchanging syndrome I was having more fun shooting scenes in this squall, myself. It was cold and, as you can see, the snow was coming in at a perpendicular angle so it was impossible not to get some in one's face. Hey, I LOVED it :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
