Cold

You know it is cold when a lake that "never freezes" becomes largely frozen. The Snow geese in the distance have just arrived from a day in the dormant cornfields. This was captured last Sunday, 26 January at Merrill Creek Reservoir in Western New Jersey about 10 miles from our house. The temps weren't bad that late afternoon - about 24 Farenheit. But the wind was blowing pretty strongly from the northwest....the "cold' direction around here... The patterns on the ice were mind-blowing...OH...BTW, this is not a B&W shot, just a rather "color-less" day...I did some editing in some NIK software tools: Viveza , Color Efex, and Dfine, to annunciate a few things like the reddish grass that really Did have some gold/red to it...Most of you who know me know that I don't normally go all in for "over-exaggeration of what the scene actually presented in reality..But this one needed some help :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
