This image was captured with my little Fuji E550 Digital Camera on the date you see above. Barbara and I were returning to our Bishop, CA motel from the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest in the White Mountains. The sun was sinking behind the Sierra Nevada Mountains to the west of us as we drove up US-395 (a marvelous highway that runs north and south through this beautiful region) and, suddenly, the sun's rays and the vivid pink/crimson colors began to flare up. I stopped along the highway to get this handheld shot.
I was so excited by this sunset, but, for years, I did nothing with the image because, there was so much contrast noise and it was not very sharp. But now that we have wonderful software available to all of us, I decided to see what i could do with it. Although this is still not the best image in the world (not by a long shot :-) with the software we now have, at least it stands a chance of being enjoyed. I used NIK Dfine; Sharpener Pro; Viveza; and Color Eefx Pro)
i will never forget that sunset and I hope that you might sense some of the thrill that we had during that spiritual event as we drove north to Bishop way back in October, 2006.

We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)
- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
