Patriarchs Standing Guard

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 9 February 2015 in Plant & Nature.

They all watch over us;
Some of them over 3 and 4,000 years old;
Yet they are there to protect us if we allow them into our souls.
These trees may look dead - but they are not.
They live, they draw moisture from the arid atmosphere and dry soil;
They withstand the constant winds and bitter cold and heat;
They are the intermediary between our civilization and destruction.
They try to warn us, but few of us listen;
We are too intent on our own agenda;
This has been predicted, this self deprecating ignorance that we have;
Time will tell soon enough!

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
