Here we are, still in 2007, but now we are back at Joshua Tree National Park which straddles two deserts of Southern California: The Colorado Desert (not to be confused with the State of Colorado which is hundreds of miles east from here) and the Mojave Desert. The Colorado Desert is higher, in general. The rock formations you see are primarily granite and are a main feature of this part of the Colorado desert....Joshua Tree National Park is characterized by beautiful rock formations and, of course, the famous Joshua Tree, which I will show a few examples of later.
Here, we see Barbara (just as beautiful now as she was in 2007) looking at some of the rock features and textures.
An interesting final point - I softly processed this image in NIK Software's HDR Effex Pro 2" to allay some of the darkness n the foreground. I probably could have lightened the image a bit more but I don't like to use HDR unless absolutely necessary...but I will be honest and say that this software has been wonderful in helping me process some of my old Fuji images from the old days.... I hope you enjoy this.
** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"
- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)
- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.
::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"; Earth Wind and Fire
