"Leaves of Remembrance"

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 11 November 2015 in Miscellaneous.

Dressed in purple, the color of healing, She was on her way to him;
He was wearing red, the red of his own blood - the blood of war;
He was caught in a branch, slowly dying from his wounds;
She became entangled also, struggling desperately to break free;
The branches kept her from getting any closer to him;

Finally they inched close enough to each other and their eyes met;
and he called to her with all the strength he could gather,
"I will always love you, my dear wife....Take my soul and all my love....
....and know that I love you;"
She cried and cried as she heard his voice, Barely able to speak she
called to him - "I will keep your soul and I will cherish it always"

On this Remembrance Day (Canada) and Veterans Day (U.S.A.), I Dedicate my words and image, above to all Veterans everywhere.

As a Veteran myself, I assure you, we appreciate your love and support. In return, I only ask, on behalf of all Veterans, Please remember them always and please honour their sacrifices.

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."

Beautiful post, sir. I spare many days of every year in humility and gratitude for the freedoms that so many people seem to take for granted, and I spare that gratitude for people like you, my grandpa Tyrrell, my friend Adam, and so many countless others who lay it all on the line in the doing of their duty.

Steve Rice from Olympia, United States

An outstanding image and words. For those of us who have gone into harms way in service to our country, this day has a special meaning. Since so few serve in the military these days, the import of this day in lost on many, I think.

I would like to see a national service corps where every citizen would spend two years serving the country in some capacity. Building and repairing trails in the parks, helping out in poor inner city neighborhoods, etc. Everyone should serve their country. People could feel better about themselves and their country. Perhaps, we would hear less fear mongering and whining from the politicians. Everyone would benefit.

12 Nov 2015 4:29am

@Steve Rice: Thank you so much, Steve. I totally agree with your suggestion too. I think that would be a perfect solution...Sorry I am so late getting back to you.
