As I write this post on November 10, 2016 two things are weighing heavily on my mind and heart:
I am remembering my fallen brothers who have made the ultimate sacrifice for peace and freedom and security. However, I am also thinking of all the broken promises that have occurred in this country for so many years......and still exist today!
Our Veterans - both alive and passed - have made the sacrifice to keep the world safe and to help this country do the right thing. Nevertheless, the recent election insanity here in the USA and the events around the world, make me worry about exactly where are we all headed.
Those promises of freedom are still in the haze,
There are so many questions and so much confusion right now - this image I shot several years ago reflects the unsure feeling that I have about these times.
Then, I float back to the vision and memory of my brothers and sisters in arms.... many now gone....
what must they be thinking right now?
** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"
- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)
- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.
::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"; Earth Wind and Fire
