Winter Festival for Snow Geese....

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 7 January 2017 in Animal & Insect.

This image (captured in February, 2014) is Still one of my personal favorites. I captured this at Merrill Creek Reservoir in Western New Jersey where we lived at that time. Each winter thousands upon thousands of Snow Geese would travel down from Northern Canada and Labrador to spend the relatively milder winter climate in Neww Jersey and Pennsylvania.

I owe a Great debt of gratitude to my good friend, Julie Weller Finley - a Native New Jersey girl ;-) - I owe her great thanks for turning me on to this fantastic refuge known as Merrill Creek Reservoir.

These geese were having a raucous and delightful time that day - the noise was awesome. I hope your imagination can help you hear the noise :-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
