Nature's Painting

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 21 January 2017 in Landscape & Rural.

I captured this image in late October of 2015 when we were still living in Eastern Pennsylvania.....
Many mornings, on my way to work, I would leave home a bit early so I could, first, visit my favorite sunrise morning photo spot which was conveniently located very close to the office.

This lovely old tree was one of my favorite subjects because of its shape and character. But there was so much vegetation surrounding it, photographic composition was a challenge....I always "saw" this tree as a wonderful subject for a painting...but I am certainly not a painter!

Finally, hoping to achieve that "painterly" look, this evening (Friday 20 Jan 2017) I started playing around with the image, bouncing it from ON1 to CK Tonality Plus - to NIK Efex Pro4 - .Finally, blending and bouncing back and forth finally provided this outcome.

I hope you like this old tree I call, "Nature's Painting!"

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
