Fog over Winooski River - May 2015

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 21 June 2017 in Landscape & Rural.

In Essex, Vermont, the Winooski River flows very close to my daughter Amy's home. When Spring gives way to summer, the cool waters of the river compete with the warming air of an oncoming summer. The result is a fog that hangs very closely over the water.

The Bridge is a railroad bridge, used by passenger line Amtrak and freight systems such as Vermont Rail System, Green Mountain Railway and others. The trains can be heard from our daughter's house and since I am a former railroad worker myself, it is a very comforting feeling to hear the trains passing by (at quite a distance from the house). They are just loud enough to be heard without really disturbing sleep if one is not a rail fan like I am.

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
