Once there was Freedom

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 16 June 2018 in Lifestyle & Culture.

From the Little Bighorn Battle Field Memorial:
This Iron Rod Artwork exemplifies the Free Nature of Native Americans in the beginning.....
it seems strange that, now, many Americans - descendants of those who immigrated to this continent and seized much of it from Native Americans - are now complaining about present day immigrants who, themselves, are trying to start a new life in a free land....

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"

A beautiful image, Denny. I agree with your observation about the xenophobes who complain about immigrants. I think immigrants are simply a device used by a certain demagogue to whip up his base. It's reminiscent of what went on in Germany in the early decades of the last century.

I like the idea of the artwork overlayed over the landscape in this photo Dennis. it makes the portrayed figures feel almost alive.
