Washington State Vietnam Veterans Memorial

Posted by

I served in Vietnam and although I was not from Washington (I was from California). But this memorial wall that has been erected at the State Capital Olympia reaches out to all visitors....and it certainly reaches out to veterans of the Vietnam War...

When I was in Vietnam during the years 1967-1968, I served with several soldiers who were from Washington State! This visit gave me an opportunity to honor The State's own Vietnam Veterans. And so my family gave me some time here to quietly pause and reflect, I could not help but think f the fellows I knew....I looked for their names on the wall and I could not find any of them. I was thankful for that...

I sat down and felt relief and sadness all at once....my friends may have come back alive, but so many others did not...

My heart and salute goes out to all veterans.

- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:

"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
