Marble - the "Confidence Builder"

Posted by
Denny Jump (Bellevue, WA, United States) on 9 September 2018 in Architecture.

Here we are in the Washington State Capital building in Olympia, just in front of the entrance to the State Senate Chambers!
The very first thing that we notice (or at least I did) is the amount of Marble and the extent to which it has been used in almost all phases of construction: Hallways, Steps, Walls, Floors! That feeling of magnificence I believe, also encourages a sense of confidence that moves to the minds and souls of other visitors who wander through these beautiful chambers and hallways....

ps - My Daughter-in-law, Lyndsy and youngest granddaughter, Cecilia add even more beauty to this scene....I hope you like it ;-)

** Staples Singers - "Respect Yourself"

- " We do not move forward from a middle opinion, which is undemocratic but mediocratic.
We advance from a creative passion "- (Edgar Morin)

- "To photograph is to hold one's breath, when all faculties converge to capture fleeting reality. It's at
that precise moment that mastering an image becomes a great physical and intellectual joy."
- Henri Cartier-Bresson.

::Words from Denny:
- My beliefs, and values, have always been strongly tied-to music, especially Jazz, and Blues.
- The following artists and lyrics seem to "sum-up" where my spirit resides:
EARTH WIND AND FIRE;
"HOLD ON TO YOUR SPIRIT,
ALWAYS FEEL YOUR SOUL....
HONOR THE MAGIC IN YOUR HEART"
; Earth Wind and Fire
